When you are towing cargo down the road on your trailer, safety is imperative at all times. That is why high quality Trailer Hubs are essential.

Your trailer hub assembly is, merely, in control of:

  • Sustaining the weight of your trailer
  • Maintaining the heaviness of your cargo
  • Making sure that the wheels can effortlessly spin

If, for any reason, your hub fails, then it could lead to an unsafe and potentially dangerous situation. Not only that, but a variety of issues will emerge, if your trailer hub assembly is failing.

You want peace of mind, knowing that your product is manufactured to last. A highly qualified trailer hub is going to refine and advance your trailer, by having dependable components that were produced to endure the harsh environment of towing. Quality hubs will also be produced to successfully meet the precise and diligent standards in the industry. In addition to that, they can enhance your trailer’s performance, as well. A trailer hub that is properly designed is going to consistently work seamlessly with the other trailer suspension parts, ensuring a towing performance that is reliable and smooth. Buying a highly qualified Trailer Hub is important for numerous reasons.

1. Safety

A trailer hub is solely in control of supporting the weight of the cargo on your trailer, while also helping the trailer’s wheels to freely spin.

When a trailer hub assembly is poorly produced, it has a high possibility of failing. This can be, potentially, dangerous when you are towing cargo down the road. However, a quality hub that has been properly designed and fabricated to meet the rigorous demands of towing will be a lot less likely to fail.

Here at ReliaBull Trailer Products, our hubs are efficiently manufactured to attain the industry's precise safety standards. The trailer hubs that we produce can safely support the total weight of cargo on your trailer, even in cases with heavy duty loads. Investing in a Reliabull trailer hub assembly will give you peace of mind, knowing that your trailer has been equipped with reliable components.

2. Durability

A quality trailer hub is going to be manufactured with materials that, essentially, have the ability to withstand the harsh exposure to the elements of towing. This means that it will be less likely to get damaged or wear down, ultimately decreasing the need to frequently replace your trailer hub part.

ReliaBull Trailer Products utilizes advanced manufacturing processes and materials that are of the highest quality, in order to produce durable trailer hubs that have the capacity to withstand the harshest conditions of towing.

3. Performance

A quality hub is going to work seamlessly with each of your trailer’s suspension components, to assure a reliable and smooth towing performance.

Here at ReliaBull Trailer Products, we provide hubs that will effortlessly and seamlessly operate with your other trailer suspension system parts. This will, in turn, improve the handling and stability of your trailer, making your towing experience easier and safer.

4. Compatibility

A trailer hub that is highly qualified will be, specifically, manufactured to exactly match your trailer’s specifications. This is going to prevent issues from emerging, such as misalignment, wheel wobble and tire wear. If a trailer hub assembly is misaligned, causing a wheel wobble, it will result in your trailer being unsafe to tow cargo on.

ReliaBull Trailer Products can guarantee trailer hubs that properly fit, accurately work and have maximum compatibility with the other components that your trailer is equipped with.

How Often Should My Trailer Hubs Be Serviced?

Trailer hub bearings should be inspected and repacked with grease, either, annually or every 6,000 miles.

There are several steps involved in replacing your trailer hub. Appropriate service methods and proper repair procedures are critical for the safe and reliable operation of your trailer, as well as for the personal safety of the individual doing the work.

How Do I Replace & Inspect A Trailer Hub?

The removal process of a trailer hub for inspection and maintenance:

  1. Verify that you have the correct replacement hub (match the hub to your trailer's specifications)
  2. Lift and support the trailer frame
  3. Remove the wheel from the hub
  4. Remove the grease cap carefully (pry around the flange of the cap, as you turn the hub)
  5. Remove the cotter pin from the spindle
  6. Unscrew the spindle nut and remove the spindle washer
  7. Pull the hub towards you, until the unit comes off the spindle (be careful not to let the outer bearing cone fall out of the hub - the seal will retain the inner bearing cone)
  8. Set the hub on a clean surface to keep any contamination from entering the bearing cavity

Clean the spindle and bearings, as well as inspect them for any damage. Replace the spindle or bearings, if it is necessary. Then, make certain that the right units have been accurately lubricated. Once all of the necessary inspections and repairs have been performed, reinstall the hubs.

Steps to reinstall a trailer hub:

  1. Place new lubricated hub on the spindle
  2. Reinstall all of the components
  3. Tighten the spindle nut (30 to 40 ft. - lbs.), while turning the hub to ensure that the bearings are seated accordingly (do not move the hub after this step has been completed)
  4. Loosen the spindle nut completely, until the nut can be naturally turned with your fingers
  5. Tighten the spindle nut by hand, without moving the hub
  6. Install the cotter pin - if it cannot be assembled, back the spindle nut up to the next available slot, then insert the cotter pin
  7. Bend the legs of the cotter pin over the top of the spindle, so that the spindle nut will not back off (the spindle nut should freely move with your fingers, being held in place by the cotter pin, while the hub should not have noticeable movement when pulled back & forth)

What Is Needed To Change A Trailer Hub?

To successfully replace a trailer hub, the following tools and materials are required:

  • Floor Jack & Jack Stand. The floor jack will lift the trailer frame, while the jack stand will keep it lifted, to ensure that the wheels can be safely removed.
  • Lug Wrench. The lug wrench detaches the lug nuts, which are holding the wheel in place.
  • Hammer. The hammer is going to be used to tap on the hub, so that you can loosen it from the axle.
  • Pliers. The pliers will be used to take the cotter pin off, which helps the hub maintain its position.
  • New Trailer Hub Assembly. The new trailer hub assembly is going to replace the old one.
  • Grease. The grease will lubricate your new trailer hub assembly.
  • New Cotter Pin. The new cotter pin will replace the old one and hold the trailer hub in place.
